After many years of procrastination, I finally made some time to go and see the Tesselaar Tulip Festival which is held in Silvan up in the Dandenong Ranges every spring. It runs from early September to early October. We went in late September, but if I went again I would probably go a week or so earlier as a number of the tulips had already died/been cut when we went.
In 2012, entry was $18 for adults, which is in my opinion a bit steep just to look at a bunch of flowers but oh well. Make sure to get there early if you can because it gets very crowded later in the day. We arrived there at 10.30 AM (the place opened at 10 AM) and there were already 40-50 cars there.
I managed to get the shot above in between banks of storm clouds.
The sun came out briefly when I was at the tulip farm, and this little kid was making the most of it!
After a bit of wandering around I managed to find a patch of tulips that had not past their prime.
