Mornington Peninsula Beach Boxes

After having visited their more famous cousins in Brighton, I thought it was time to check out some of the beach boxes on the Mornington Peninsula.  In general they don’t seem to be as well kept as the ones in Brighton, but they more than make up for it in terms of number and variety.  There are approximately 250 in each of Mt Martha, Dromana and Rosebud.  Towards the pointy end of the peninsula (i.e. Portsea) the beach boxes are fewer and also a lot more expensive.

As can be seen from the photo above, this particular day it was quite stormy, making for tough shooting conditions.  My poor DSLR got drenched in numerous passing downpours, but still kept on going like it has in the past – thanks Nikon.

A break in the storm clouds resulted in some nice direct lighting on this cute row of bathing boxes.  Owning something here is like owning a nice house in a leafy eastern suburb.

Another bathing box – as you can see by the boxes next to it, it”s starting to get to the slightly dodgy part of town.

Thought I’d do a triptych to highlight the different colours and types of bathing boxes.

Late afternoon sun hitting a bathing box.  This one is pretty fancy, it has it’s own verandah.

Bathing box doorway on the Mornington Peninsula.  Like a little kid, I was immediately drawn in by the bold colours.
