Korumburra & Surrounds

This weeks adventure took me to the little South East Gippsland town of Korumburra – famous for the Coal Creek Historical Village and the rolling dairy country that surrounds it.  I hoped to capture both on this particular visit.

The Coal Creek Historical Village is a surprisingly substantial attraction, comprising 60+ heritage buildings filled with period knick knacks and so forth.  It’s open Thursday to Monday from 10 AM – 4.30 PM, and 7 days a week during the school holidays.  Entry is free.

The above photo is of the Boston Carriageworks.  As you can see, the attention to detail is amazing.  It’s probably one of the more impressive exhibits in the village.

A metal contraption at the Boston Carriageworks.  I’m sure there was an explanation as to what it actually does in the explanatory notes…

Don’t forget to visit Caspar and Mingo (two very friendly miniature horses) out in the back paddocks at the village.

The General Store at the Coal Creek Historical Village.  Filled with period detail – definitely worth a wander through.

Some breathtaking vistas to be had in the country lanes around Korumburra this time of year. You can actually see the ocean out in the distance behind the last layer of hills.

Late afternoon light bringing out the folds and creases in the hills.

A farmhouse set amongst emerald hills.  It’s such a beautiful part of Victoria, I’ll definitely be visiting again before the summer heat starts to parch the grass.
